Tomorrow I will be setting my alarm clock for 5am, jumping on the Eurostar and heading to Offf in Paris. It looks set to be an incredible few days and I am most looking forward to seeing lectures by Craig Ward, Universal Everything and Non-Format.

A new year, a new job! I have started at This is Real Art - an incredible company with incredible people.

Also, the Cheestrings website that I helped to design and illustrate while at B-Reel is now up and running. Check it out and have a go HERE.

I had a brilliant time working at B-Reel but the New Year will be bringing a very exciting new job! Keep posted!

Last week I decided to indulge in an old favourite pastime of mine and embarked on an evening of life drawing classes. It was held in the basement of a great little cafe, The Book Club, and we all sketched by candle light with a wee glass of red wine by our sides to help keep the creative juices flowing! I haven't done any life drawing for the past couple of years and last week helped me determine the first resolution to go on my list for the new year: drawing classes at least once a month! It was a great reminder of how important it is to pick up a real pencil once in a while, (rather than a Wacom pen!) and do some good, old fashioned sketching!

About two years ago, I was approached to do a re-brand for an organic bakery in Canada. Unfortunately, just as we were getting close to completing the designs and put them into production, the whole project had to be put on hold.

Last week I received an email from the company saying that they would like to proceed with the designs, so I will be doing a 'refresh' on the now 2 year old concepts and hopefully you will be seeing them in a Whole Foods near you soon!

I recently went to a Massive Attack concert at Brixton Academy. Although the music was great, it was the light show that blew me away!! After a little bit of digging, I found out that unsurprisingly, it was the work of the geniuses at UVA.

On the topic of lights and sound, I highly recommend taking a few minutes, (or perhaps 20) out of your day to watch this incredible audio visual projection on a theatre in Figueres. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of this kind of thing in the 2010!

The last thing I need in my life is another design blog to get addicted to, and then along comes one of my great friends and her new site: Storage and Glee. It's only a couple of weeks old and I am already hooked.

I am just finishing my third week at B-Reel, a digital, film and animation production company in Shoreditch. As a Swedish tradition, the company will be closing for the next two weeks, but I will be back in late August. So far, it has been a fantastic experience and I have had the opportunity to work on some really exciting pitches.

Steve's Balbo Bogey Blitz at the V&A Village Fete was a huge success resulting in hundreds of lovingly crafted paper planes descending over the V&A courtyard. Here was the write up on the V&A site:

Steve Price, Matthew Grey & Megan Riera present…Balbo Bogey Blitz

BBB (Balbo Bogey Blitz) Squadron. ‘Blitz – slang term meaning a large formation of enemy aircraft’. Help us make our very own large formation of (paper) aircraft. Design, decorate and try to fly and land your very own (paper) airplane over our runway and on to our target. Points, as always, mean prizes. Entry is £1 for one paper airplane or £2 for three planes.
BBB are Wing Commander Steve Price, Squadron Leader Matthew Grey and Flight Lieutenant Megan Riera.

I was incredibly impressed with the originality of the entire event, (which just celebrated its 10th year) but apparently it will not be held again next year, due to 'health and safety issues'.

No rest for the wicked: I have just graduated with a 1st class BA (hons) and am going straight into an internship! Will let you know how it is going in the coming weeks.

Check out these stunning Sci Fi... or rather, SyFy idents produced by Proud Creative and Man vs Machine.

I have been asked by Plan B Studio's Steve Price to lend a helping hand for this years V&A Village Fete and I am really excited! I can't give much away, but for now, just call me Pilot Officer Riera! Hope to see you down there on the 24th and 25th of July.

This is my first attempt at building a site, so please bear with me... I will be posting some images for now, but it will all be up and running within the next couple of weeks.
